Mansfields alongside Pilgrims Hospices held the annual Pilgrims Hospice Challenge Cup fishing competition at Broad Oak Fishing Lake, Near Canterbury on 28th June 2015.

Paul Mansfield hosts The Hospice Challenge Cup which is in its fifth year now and the emphasis is on family fun and enjoyment in a peaceful picturesque surroundings. Fishing experts are on hand to assist and children are encouraged to come along and learn about fishing and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The weather was a typical June day a mixture of sun, cloud and drizzle but for the most part warm and dry. The children took full advantage of the bouncy castle and face-painting on offer. Everyone tucked in to the breakfast baps, hog roast and Mansfields’ own strawberries for lunch as well as cherries and apples kindly donated from our partners. Of course a few refreshments were imbibed as well.

Pilgrims Hospices is our chosen charity as it is so close to many people within Kent, no less than one in four local families in the East Kent area are affected and rely on the invaluable support that Pilgrims Hospice provide. Being such a prominent charity within Kent the event is well supported by employees, suppliers, customers, friends & family. With the fantastic support received we raised £12,001.56 on the day. That takes our total after 5 years of fundraising to £58,094.03 – a phenomenal achievement!

David and Paula West of Team Scope took the overall prize for the day with a team catch of 37lb 8oz. Ben Clark of Team Total Worldfresh took the prize for the biggest fish caught with a 7lb 1oz Carp. The prizes were presented to the winners by Cate Russell, CEO of Pilgrims Hospices and Paul Mansfield.

Many thanks to all those who took part and supported the fundraising.

Thanks again to you all and see you next year!
